Our wonderful Victorian seaside town, Penarth, has once again topped one of the most prestigious national polls of the best places to live in the UK.
The Sunday Times has ranked Penarth among the very best towns and cities in the UK, taking into consideration key factors including quality of life, health and wellbeing, education, transport, culture, access to green spaces, high street facilities, and more.
The newspaper’s judges visited areas up and down the UK, settling on a final list of neighbourhoods and communities that ‘represent everything that’s great about living in Britain’.
"It's amazing being so close to nature. On the weekends, sometimes I will go to a museum, shopping or a cafe, other times I will take a walk around Cosmeston, which is so beautiful." Marketa, boarding student
It’s not the first time Penarth has been voted one of the best places to live and study in the UK, frequently topping polls over the past few years for its commitment to healthy living and affluent, safe community.
It’s easy to see why our fantastic coastal town is a great place to be. With a wealth of things to do, including a vibrant high street with a wide range of shops, cafes and independent boutiques, a library, tennis clubs, golf club, multiple gyms and leisure centres, as well as the iconic seafront, coastal walks, Cosmeston Country Park, colourful marina, we really are spoilt for choice.
And this is only a short drive or direct train ride from Wales’ capital city, Cardiff, around ten minutes’ away. A great alternative is to walk into Cardiff Bay from Penarth Marina, soaking up the buzz of the Cardiff Bay Barrage with wetlands nature reserve en route.
