Empowering students to define their own pathway to university by offering the choice of A Levels or the IB Diploma.
Posted: 2nd May 2025
We are delighted to be expanding our award-winning academic curriculum this September with the exciting launch of A Levels at Sixth Form.
Students beginning Year 12 in September 2025 will have the opportunity to choose from a distinguished suite of A Level subjects, or the globally renowned IB Diploma Programme, which has long been a hallmark of Westbourne’s global success.
While the IB offers six subjects for those seeking both breadth and depth, A Levels will allow students to specialise in a focused selection of three or more.
“We are thrilled to offer more options for local students at Sixth Form, extending our “IB School of the Year” status to also include a suite of A Levels. Tailoring education to the individual is central to our ethos, and offering A Levels alongside the IB means that students are empowered to define their own academic pathway to university. Like the IB, A Levels form part of our commitment to ‘Future Ready’ skills, whether local or global, academic or entrepreneurial. These changes are underpinned by our core mission: to develop future ready leaders with the curiosity, creativity and capability to shape a rapidly developing world.” P. R. Forsythe, Principal
Westbourne’s distinctive Sixth Form provision extends far beyond standard curricula, unlocking a world of exclusive opportunities to develop future ready skills. Innovation and exploration pulse through this two-year immersive experience in academic excellence, attracting the brightest minds from a broad local and global community to study award-winning programmes.
From Day One, our students are treated as Young Professionals, gaining access to cutting-edge career accelerators such as the Future Leaders Lab in Singapore, INSEAD-led MBA-style masterclasses, and exchange opportunities in Sydney.
They also benefit from a host of exclusive workshops and networking sessions with global industry leaders.
Our Sixth Form students are currently using a groundbreaking, custom-made AI tutor, KnowVa Coach, to enhance their revision ahead of their upcoming exams, with grades boosted by an average of 30% – at least 2 grades higher.
Developed by Westbourne, ranked #1 in the UK for Innovation, in collaboration with Cardiff University and Professor Adrian Johnson of INSEAD Business School, KnowVa Coach uses proven neuroscience-backed methods including Socratic Questioning, the Retrieval Technique and the Testing Effect to provide instant, personalised feedback to students.
The intuitive programme offers students infinite exam questions and model answers to ensure they revise smarter in less time, providing high quality online tutoring 24/7, no matter the location and to suit the individual needs of the student.
"KnowVa Coach makes it really easy to revise. It uses Socratic questioning, which pulls questions related to the topic to expand your answer and knowledge, and it shows you what a perfect answer to the question looks like. I’m using KnowVa Coach for Computer Science, and we also have it for Business Management as well. It really helps you deepen your knowledge in core areas.” Igor, IB student
“It's very simple to use and is really useful because it truly prompts you to say as much as you can on that topic. KnowVa Coach pushes you, saying, ‘Can you comment further on this?’ It helps my brain make connections between themes and questions. It works especially well for me as I don’t like studying in isolation, on my own. Having the AI there saying, ‘Oh, you did this really well’, or ‘You could try that better’ is motivating you to keep going.” Xena, IB student
