Global Exchange 2025
Posted: 10th October 2025
This year’s Global Exchange Week welcomed Sixth Form students from Westbourne’s campuses in Sydney and Singapore to the UK for a transformative programme of academic collaboration, cultural immersion and global connection.
The week began with an inspiring university tour, as our visiting students and their UK peers explored some of Britain’s most prestigious institutions, including Oxford, Cambridge, and leading London universities including UCL. The tour exposed them to different academic environments and further fuelled their ambition for global study and top university success.
Back in Penarth, the students flexed their STEM problem-solving skills with a global science collaboration, where mixed teams delved into sustainability-themed experiments and presentations. The interdisciplinary work drew on each student’s unique background, fostering creative problem-solving and cross-continental learning.
At the same time, participants built international friendships, shared perspectives on studying in different countries, and supported one another in their IB Diploma and A Level studies – exchanging revision strategies, academic insight and peer encouragement.
The week reached its crescendo with a spectacular gala dinner at Cardiff Castle, serving as a fitting and memorable finale.
Under the castle’s vaulted halls, students, staff and hosts came together for an evening of reflection, celebration and connection. Speeches, laughter and heartfelt exchanges marked the closing of a week that wove together ambition, academic growth and global citizenship.
As our global students now return home to Sydney and Singapore, and for those who remain in Penarth, they carry with them not only new academic insight but also lifelong connections and a renewed perspective on what it means to be a global learner.
