Westbourne School students are celebrating outstanding GCSE results today, with 67% of students attaining 9 or more A*-A grades.
Across all subjects, 72% achieved A*-A, with an outstanding 91% A*-B.

Reflective of this unique future-focused curriculum, at GCSE this year a record-breaking 88% of students achieved A*-A grades in Business; 80% A*-A grades in Science and Maths; with 65% A* grades in Maths alone.

Teaching fuelled by innovation
Westbourne has long been known for outstanding teaching in smaller, more personalised classes.
In recent years, thanks to our expansion across three continents, students now benefit from inspirational teaching not only on campus in Penarth, but also via a pioneering “global classroom”, which facilitates the very best teachers and subject specialists from our global schools being beamed into classrooms in Penarth for academic booster sessions. Students and teachers from across Westbourne’s global schools form a powerful academic network, collaborating and working together in real time, as if in the same room.
Student learning is also enriched using KnowVa Coach – a groundbreaking, custom-made AI tutor developed by Westbourne in collaboration with Cardiff University’s Department of Neuroscience that offers students infinite exam questions, tailored feedback and model answers to bolster their study. At Sixth Form, this new technology has boosted grades by 30%.

Sixth Form students rank in top 1% worldwide
The exceptional GCSE results follow equally impressive Sixth Form results earlier this summer, which saw our Year 13 students achieve the very highest marks in the IB Diploma, progressing to study leading STEM degree programmes including Medicine, Pharmacy, Finance, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and more at top ranking universities worldwide.
We are pleased to be offering A-Levels alongside the IB Diploma from this September, providing two elite pathways to future success at university and beyond.
