Among this year’s top performers are Gleb and Ignas, who each achieved a truly outstanding 44 out of 45 points.

Gleb, who will now study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol after securing 44 Points, described his Westbourne experience as “transformative”. He said:

“The IB was the right choice for me because I didn’t want my subjects to be narrow,” he said. “I wanted to study different sciences and disciplines while developing my writing skills, critical thinking and ability to connect ideas across subjects.

“Westbourne gave me the flexibility to explore new interests, and that ultimately helped me discover my passion for physics and aerospace engineering.”

Ignas, who also secured 44 points and will now study at the elite Sciences Po in France, said the combination of the IB programme and Westbourne’s supportive environment helped him gain clarity about his future.

“I came out of Year 13 knowing what I want to study and even what I want to do later in life, which I didn’t think I could,” he said.

“The breadth of the IB allowed me to explore new areas that I might never have considered otherwise. It opened up opportunities and helped me grow as a person.”
