A Top Independent School Spanning Three Continents

At Westbourne, every student is part of a community defined by ‘Three Continents, One Mission’. Across the UK and throughout our global schools, we cultivate a shared sense of brilliance, inspiring students to be ambitious and aspirational at a global level.

We welcome some of the world’s brightest students minds to study with us here in our Penarth campus. Whether you are a day student from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, or an international boarder living on campus, Westbourne provides an exceptional educational experience. From early years all the way to university preparation, students thrive. They do so in a supportive, inclusive, and globally-minded environment.

Westbourne’s ethos is simple but powerful: students excel when they belong, are challenged, and are supported.

  • Prep School (ages 4–10): Early years focus on curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Smaller classes (average 15 pupils) and individual attention nurture academic, social, and emotional development. Our innovative STEM curriculum, FAB School (forest & beach school), and wide-ranging clubs programme projects encourage discovery, resilience, and practical problem-solving.

  • Senior School (ages 11–15): Students embark on a rigorous Middle Years and GCSE curriculum, with outstanding results. Smaller than average class sizes, individual mentorship, and co-curricular opportunities in sports, debating, STEM and leadership develop confident, well-rounded learners. 2025 saw us achieve our best ever GCSE results.

  • Sixth Form (ages 16–18): Students choose between A-Levels or the IB Diploma – two elite pathways offering world-class credentials and preparation for leading universities globally. With an average IB score of 37.3 points, Westbourne students rank in the top 1–2% globally. 90% progress to Russell Group and top international universities.

Across every stage, the focus is the same: preparing students for life with academic excellence, global perspectives, and personal resilience, supported by a globally inclusive community.

Global Belonging

Westbourne’s vision extends far beyond Wales. Our sister schools in Singapore and Sydney allow students to collaborate on global projects, participate in global exchanges, and experience international perspectives first-hand.

  • Day students benefit from virtual international collaboration, also joining in-person trips and excursions with their global peers. Every summer, UK students visit the Singapore school to take part in a week-long business immersion programme – Westbourne’s very own mini MBA, Future Leaders Lab.

  • Boarding students experience full and dynamic immersion in UK education and British culture while connecting with peers worldwide.

  • We welcome over 30 nationalities in our UK student community.

This ensures that students not only excel academically but also become confident global citizens, prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the modern world.
