Outstanding GCSE Results in STEM subjects highlight Westbourne’s Industry-Led Approach

72% A*-A in STEM subjects
50% A* in Physics
83% A*-A in Mathematics
68% A*-A overall
86% A*-B overall

Westbourne School students are celebrating exceptional GCSE results today, with 72% A*-A in STEM subjects, including 83% of Mathematics entries achieving A*-A, and 50% of Physics entries achieving A*. Across all subjects, 68% of grades were A*-A, with 86% achieving A*-B.

This is the first Year 11 cohort to experience Westbourne’s industry-led Senior School curriculum, where career mentoring and exposure to the world of work are embedded alongside academic learning.

Students have been the first to take part in Westbourne’s Global Industry Speakers Programme, with a different industry leader joining the school each week. Speakers from AI, nuclear energy, stockbroking and biomedical science have shared first-hand insight into their careers, industries and the skills employers value, with sessions also shared with our sister schools in Sydney and Singapore.

The programme connects classroom learning with real-world careers, helping students understand how their academic strengths can translate into opportunities in sectors including engineering, technology, medicine and finance.

“We want our students to leave Westbourne with excellent grades, but also with a clear understanding of where those grades can take them. Bringing industry into the Senior School gives students that perspective early. They hear directly from people working in these sectors and can see the connection between what they are learning now and the careers they may pursue in the future. Inspiring STEM Leaders of the Future

Top-performing students today include Nils with 12 A*s and one A; and Esther, Harsh and Piotr who each achieved 12 A*/A grades. The highest grades were achieved in Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry and Physics.

Excited students joined staff in school today to receive their results. Aurelia, who achieved a phenomenal 11 A*/A grades, told us: “I’m so delighted with my results today”.

Seren added: “I’m really happy with the outcome. Thank you to all my teachers for helping through my journey.”

Connecting academic achievement with future careers

Industry engagement is part of a wider Senior School model combining academic achievement, career mentoring, leadership development and global learning.

Westbourne’s Future Leaders Lab, delivered in Singapore with professors and alumni from world-leading business school INSEAD, gives students an immersive experience in leadership, business and entrepreneurship. Students also learn alongside peers and subject specialists across our global schools in Sydney and Singapore.

Cutting-edge technology supports personalised learning through KnowVa Coach – Westbourne’s bespoke AI learning platform developed in collaboration with Cardiff University’s Department of Neuroscience – which provides personalised exam practice, feedback and model answers alongside teacher-led learning.

Outstanding Sixth Form Results Reinforce the Model

This year’s GCSE results follow equally exceptional Sixth Form results for Westbourne’s Class of 2026.

One in three students achieved 40 points or more in the IB Diploma, equivalent to A*A*A*A* at A Level. The highest score was an exceptional 44 out of 45 points, attained by two students who rank in the top 1% worldwide, with nearly 50% of students achieving 38+ points (the University of Oxford entry benchmark).

Students will now progress to leading universities to study degree subjects including Medical Biosciences, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Economics, Aeronautics, Geosciences and MORSE (Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics) – one of the UK’s most rigorous and quantitative undergraduate degrees, combining advanced mathematics with applications in business, finance and management – alongside Law, Politics, International Relations and Global Sustainable Development.

The results demonstrate Westbourne’s uniquely personalised, future-focused approach: strong academic foundations combined with early exposure to industry, career mentoring and leadership development. Students leave with the qualifications to progress to leading universities, alongside a clearer, more hands-on understanding of the industries, careers and opportunities that lie ahead.
