Dear Parents and Pupils,
Welcome to Westbourne Prep School, where our independent blend of traditional values and excellent teaching, in a secure family environment, builds confidence and character in our children from a very young age. Our Prep School is a happy place, and we have long held the philosophy that happy children learn well. Our ‘secret’ is the very close bond between the children, from Nursery and Reception classes all the way to the top of the school, and the staff, who know each child extremely well.
We provide a stimulating and diverse curriculum, including making full use of our coastal and countryside location with our vibrant FaB (Forest & Beach) School, ensuring learning is hands-on and child-led, and encouraging engagement with the natural world. Our More Able & Talented Group sessions extend our pupils; and interactive STEM sessions engage and stretch curious young minds.
A primary aim of our school is to develop globally minded people who help create a better and more peaceful world. Our children are encouraged to develop competencies in line with the IB Learner Profile, as they embark on their journey through the Prep School towards our Senior School community. We nurture inquirers, thinkers, communicators, encouraging the children to be caring, open-minded, balanced and principled.
A broad range of co-curricular activities, all of which encourage children to question, to care, to communicate and to develop a love of learning, will successfully prepare them for the next stage in their education and life.
We have received external, independent validation of our approach with an Estyn report grading the school ‘excellent’ across all categories, one of very few schools in Wales to achieve such an accolade.
